Only Believe

Mark 5:22-23,35-36

Verses 22-23
And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, and besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

Verses 35-36

While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

Power Points
  • Jairus made his request to Jesus, asking him to come and heal his daughter.
  • Jairus spoke that if Jesus laid his hands on her she may be healed and shall live.
  • However before they got back to Jarius' house, he got a bad report.
  • Sometimes, even while we are walking with Jesus and waiting on him to do what we have asked of him, we will get a bad report.
  • Jesus responded and told Jairus not to be afraid, only believe.
  • God has not given us the spirit of fear.
  • We can not allow our situations and circumstances cause fear and ultimately doubt to form in our hearts and minds.
  • At all costs we must BELIEVE!!!

Believe Enough to Speak It in Advance

    Mark 5:25-29,34
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, when she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
    Verse 34
And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

    Power Points
  • Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)
  • We must have enough faith and belief in God, His word, and His promises to speak things into existence before we ever feel or see it.
  • The woman with the issue of blood spoke her healing before she felt it.
  • Jesus went on to tell her that it was her FAITH that made her whole.
  • Trust God enough to speak even though you don't see it.

Spiritual Warfare: Got Your Armor On, Now What? (Part 4)

    II Chronicles 20:1-26 (Jehoshaphat's Story)

    REALIZE THE BATTLE IS WON!!!
    Verses 23-25
For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped. And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.
    Power Points
  • Once they praised the Lord, the Lord handled their enemies.
  • Their enemies turned on each other and destroyed themselves.
  • By the time they made it to the battle their enemies were slain.
  • Not only were they victorious over their enemies, God blessed them indeed with all the spoil (treasures) of the enemy.
  • The wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just. Proverbs 13:22
  • Nay in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Romans 8:37

Spiritual Warfare: Got Your Armor On, Now What? (Part 3)

    II Chronicles 20:1-26 (Jehoshaphat's Story)

    PRAISE THE LORD
    Verses 18-22
And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD. And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high. And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
    Power Points
  • Jehoshaphat is definitely in a battle.
  • First he sought the Lord. Then the Lord assured him that the battle belonged to the Lord.
  • After this assurance Jehoshaphat and the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem praised the Lord.
  • In other words they danced in advance, you see the praise occurred before the battle even began!
  • I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Psalm 34:1

Spiritual Warfare: Got Your Armor On, Now What? (Part 2)

    II Chronicles 20:1-26 (Jehoshaphat's Story)

RECOGNIZE THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS
    Verses 14-17
Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation; And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

    Power Points
  • After seeking the Lord by prayer and fasting, the spirit of the Lord came by way of a prophet (believe the prophet) to inform Jehoshaphat that the battle did not belong to him.
  • The battle you face in your life is not yours, it belongs to the Lord.
  • All you have to do is enter the battle in full armor then stand still and watch God save you!
  • For the Lord your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you. Deuteronomy 20:4

Spiritual Warfare: Got Your Armor On, Now What?

    II Chronicles 20:1-26 (Jehoshaphat's Story)

    SEEK GOD FIRST!
    Verses 1-4
It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle. Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi. And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.

    Power Points
  • Jehoshaphat first realized that he was in a battle.
  • Immediately he sought God through prayer and fasting.
  • Once we recognize that we have entered into warfare we must first and foremost seek God!
  • Pray without ceasing. I Thessalonians 5:17
